Beyond one meter

Is your part 3 meters long?
No problem.

The limit isn't the printer, it's your imagination. We split the model into sections designed to interlock, print them in parallel and deliver them numbered. For assembly, we can refer you to our external partners.

  • Smart sectioning — cuts placed where they can't be seen and don't weaken the part.
  • Interlocking joints — custom-designed pins, dovetails and alignment keys.
  • Assembly & finishing by external partners — bonding, filling and painting handled by trusted partners we can recommend.

These are close-up photos of our large-format parts, straight off the printer. How the surface looks depends on the shape of the part.

  • Vertical wallsLayers stack in perfect alignment: the lines are barely noticeable and the surface looks even.
  • Curved and sloped surfacesEach layer is slightly offset from the one below, creating the typical stair-step effect, which becomes more visible the more the surface slopes.

Need a perfectly smooth surface? Our external partners take care of sanding, filling and painting.

Good to know before ordering

How supports work

FDM 3D printing builds the part layer by layer, from the bottom up, and every layer has to rest on the one below. Parts that stick out into empty space (steep overhangs, long bridges, undercuts, large horizontal holes) cannot be printed "in mid-air".

  1. Supports are neededUnder the overhanging areas we print a temporary structure that holds them up during printing. We remove it once the job is done.
  2. Supported areas stay markedWhere the support touched the part, the surface is rougher and duller, with small marks or residue: it looks less nice than the rest. This is a characteristic of FDM printing, not a defect.
  3. How we minimize itWe orient the part and, if needed, split it into sections, to use as few supports as possible and place them on the least visible areas.
During printingAfter removal temporary supports under the overhangmarked surface under the overhang

Tell us which faces will be visible. Write it in the notes when you send us the file: we will keep supports away from them whenever the shape of the part allows. For a perfect surface even on supported areas, our external partners can sand, fill and paint.

When supports are needed

Walls inclined up to 45°Each layer sticks out only slightly from the one below and supports itself.
No supports
Walls inclined beyond 45°The layer would stick out too far into empty space: it needs something underneath.
Supports
Short bridgesA short horizontal span between two supports is printed as a "bridge", with nothing underneath.
No supports
Long bridges and ceilingsOver long distances the filament would sag: we support the whole underside.
Supports
Large horizontal holesSmall holes close by themselves; in large ones the upper part has to be supported.
Supports
Protruding partsArms, shelves, the chin of a statue: anything sticking out sideways rests on supports that start from the build plate.

      Frequently asked questions

      FAQ

How much does it cost to print a large object?

It depends on volume, material and infill. Send us your file or dimensions and you'll get a detailed, free quote within 24 hours.

      I don't have a 3D file. Can you help?

Yes. If you have the physical object, we capture it with 3D scanning; if you have drawings, photos or measurements, we'll build a print-ready model for you.

How do you print objects larger than 1 meter?

We split the model into several sections with interlocking joints and print them separately. We deliver the parts numbered; for assembly, we can refer you to our external partners.

Do you also handle assembly, bonding and painting?

Not directly: we specialize in 3D printing, 3D scanning and reverse engineering. For assembly, bonding and finishing we work with trusted external partners we can refer you to, so you get a complete piece. If you prefer, you can hand it to your own craftsman.

      What is reverse engineering?

We start from an existing object, often a broken or discontinued spare part: we scan it, rebuild an editable CAD model and print it again, improved or at a different scale if needed.

Can I order and pay online?

Yes, for parts up to 35 × 35 × 35 cm: upload the file, see the price instantly and send the order. Before you pay we check the file and send you the order confirmation or any change; then you pay by PayPal or bank transfer. The minimum order is €50 + VAT. For larger parts the price is always confirmed by one of our technicians.

Are my files and designs safe?

Yes. The files you send us stay confidential: we use them only to make your part and never share them with anyone. If your project is particularly sensitive, we're glad to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA): just ask when you contact us.

      Do you ship abroad?

Yes. We ship throughout Italy and internationally, with packaging designed for large parts. For sectioned objects, every piece is protected and numbered.

What are supports and why do they leave marks?

They are temporary structures we print under parts that hang in empty space, because every layer has to rest on the one below. We remove them after printing, but where they touched the part the surface stays rougher and less attractive. We orient the part to reduce them and keep them away from visible faces: tell us which ones in the notes.

      How long does it take?

A few days for small parts; usually 1–3 weeks for 1 m³ or sectioned parts, depending on size and complexity. We always give you a firm date.

Can the objects be used outdoors?

For large parts we recommend PETG, which handles heat and humidity better than PLA. For parts under 500 mm, ASA is also available, ideal outdoors thanks to its UV resistance.

Which materials do you use for large objects?

Objects from 500 mm to 1 meter are usually made in PLA or PETG, the most stable materials for large formats. The technical materials ABS and ASA are available for smaller sizes.
